Everyone loves a good story.
But stutter and stumble your way through it with a bunch of um’s and ah’s, and eventually no one will stick around long enough to hear how it ends. The same can be said for your business and how you tell its story on social media.
Whether you’re buying an item off the shelf, (literally), or getting ready to click “Buy Now” online, storytelling is one of the most powerful ways to engage your customers to know your brand. It’s fact that your customer wants to know where that product came from, who made it and how. Our needs as a society have shifted. We’re living in a consumer-driven world, where shopping consciously is becoming the norm, and a thirst for knowing more is increasing.
People want to listen to stories that they can relate to and share in experiences that tug at their heartstrings. Storytelling is essential to human existence. It has the power to captivate, engage and induce response…
It’s about offering engaging stories that make your customers feel at ease and your brand accessible to them… But it doesn’t have to be all words…
Take creative photos of your products; set a theme day e.g. Monday Mandala, Shoutout Saturdays etc… Record a video…(Talk to my mate James Tew, if you have no idea where to start). Get creative. By offering engaging stories, your followers will feel at ease and your brand more accessible to them. And by learning how to tell your story effectively, you’ll find your customers will naturally want to know more. They’ll begin to understand what your business is about and more importantly who you are.
But before you jump online and start posting across every social media, figure out what your story is. Write it down. Yep! That’s right on paper… Create a mind map… Just start something. Start from today, if you don’t want to start at the beginning.
The key thing to remember here, is that many people will think they’ve heard your story before. So how do you overcome this? Bring a fresh perspective, revisit your story, or mix and match what works for you. Don’t ever think your story should be silenced. You have the power to create and inspire. There’s no right or wrong story – just yours.
Some people are natural born storytellers; others don’t even know the words ‘Once upon a time’..If you’re the latter, then I can help you.
You don’t need the hard sell to generate the money, you just need to know how to tell your story…because your story deserves to be told.
